Introduction

While it has the potential to be controversial for a number of reasons, this list is presented here solely for reference. In the interest of fairness, static display aircraft destroyed through non-flying accidents are included as well.

Criteria for Inclusion

To be included, an aircraft must no longer be in either military or commercial service, but instead either operated by private individuals or for historical purposes.

Aircraft are counted as lost if the majority of the aircraft was destroyed in the accident, regardless of whether they were later rebuilt. Aircraft lost after being rebuilt are not included a second time.
